Gemini Lighting Solutions (GLS) delivered a bespoke lighting control solution for the Institution of Civil Engineers at One Great George Street, a prestigious Grade II listed conference and events venue in London. The project focused on upgrading legacy lighting controls to a modern Dynalite system, while preserving the character and integrity of the historic building.
Spanning key event spaces including the Smeaton Room and the Great Hall, the system was designed to provide flexible, intuitive control to support a wide range of events, from conferences to formal functions.

System features

The concept centred around delivering a lighting control system that could balance heritage preservation with modern functionality.

The venue required lighting capable of enhancing architectural features such as ornate detailing and large chandeliers, while also offering dynamic scene control to suit different event types. A key requirement was the ability for AV contractors to integrate with the lighting system via DMX, enabling seamless control during live events.

To minimise disruption, the new system was designed to integrate with existing infrastructure wherever possible, reusing cabling from the previous installation and ensuring the upgrade could be delivered in phases around the venue’s busy event schedule.
