The absence of natural daylight in selected rooms was reimagined as a unique opportunity for Premier Inn guests. Using Light Cognitive’s artificial daylight panels and the powerful Dynalite control system, guests can personalise their in-room environment to support better sleep and wake cycles.
Kazzar Lighting introduced the concept of ‘the windowless room’ where sunrise and sunset could be created using an artificial light panel to simulate the colours created by the sun at different times of day, which could be adjusted to a guest’s personal sleep and wake patterns.
The lack of window in the room was reframed as a benefit in order to create a controlled environment where achieving complete darkness minimised light sensitivity, while the introduction of artificial daylight technologies allowed us to infuse the space with full spectrum daylight and diffused light, perfectly aligning with the occupants’ natural circadian rhythms.
Guests can activate the sleep mode, and the lighting will gently fade over a span of 40 minutes, fostering relaxation and facilitating sleep. They can also their desired wake-up time, allowing the ‘window’ to transition smoothly to daylight in alignment with their chosen wake-up time.
During the rest of the day, the artificial window will emulate the sun and sky’s natural dynamics, tailored to the specific area and time of day.
