What to Do if Your iLight System Is Nearing End-of-Life

As Signify phases out iLight, buildings & facilities managers and maintenance teams must plan now to avoid downtime.

iLight has been a dependable lighting control solution for the last 20 years, but the announcement in May 2025 that manufacturer’s support is winding down may come as an unwanted surprise.

What this means for you in practice, is that some controllers and modules are already obsolete while others can still be sourced through late 2025. The first step we would recommend is to inventory your iLight components so you know which parts you have and which might become unavailable. We can help you to do this, contact the GLS team who will be happy to help. Spare parts for iLight are still available now and can be sourced until September 2025, after which we can support you from our own stocks while they last.

Identify Your iLight Components

Your iLight system may include a variety of controllers, modules, and interfaces. Key components often have product codes like SCIxxxx, SCAxxxx, SCHxxxx, SCSxxxx, etc. For example:

  • Inductive Load Controllers (SCI series): e.g. SCI0405, SCI0410, SCI0420, SCI1205, SCI1210, SCI1220.
  • Adaptive Load Controllers (SCA series): e.g. SCA0410, SCA1210.
  • Capacitive/Resistive Controllers (SCH/SCS series): e.g. SCH0410, SCH0420, SCH1210, SCH1220, SCS0410, SCS0420, SCS1210, SCS1220.
  • Transistor (LED) Controllers (SCLED series): e.g. SCLED1205.
  • DIN-Rail Modules: e.g. SCMI0402, SCMA0401, SCMA0402 (dimmers); SCMH0410, SCMH1200 (ballast controllers); SCMS0410 (switching); SCMR0432, SCMR1232 (relay units) SCMC0210 (curtain controllers), SCMD2, SCMD4 (DALI controllers).
  • Pluggable Modules: e.g. LCMD-10
  • Relay Modules: e.g. RI-2
  • Network Components: e.g. EG2 (ethernet gateway), SI-2 (System Integrator Node)
  • Time Controllers: e.g. TSC30 (time switch),
  • User Interfaces/Sensors: e.g. NS3-C (PIR/Sensor), FLT-MTS6-DALI/FLT-MTS12-DALI (DALI sensors), TSE55/TSE80 (touchscreens).

By grouping your hardware this way, you can see at a glance which parts you need spares for. Many of the above models still use iLight’s iCAN communications and are physically distinct from newer Dynalite gear. We strongly suggest listing all module types and quantities, so when you contact us at Gemini Lighting Solutions we can understand your exact requirements for spares.

Obsolete vs Available iLight Components

Not all iLight products will be available forever. Some parts are already discontinued or out of stock. For example, the SCI0405 inductive controller is explicitly marked as ‘obsolete’ and even sold only as a pre-owned item. Likewise, the SCLED1205 LED dimmer is shown as ‘Obsolete & non refundable’ and is out of stock. By contrast, many other items can still be ordered (typically on 4–6 week lead times). For example, the SCA0410 adaptive controller is currently listed ‘available on back-order’.

Buy and Hold Essential Spares

Once you know which parts you have and which are vulnerable, act quickly. For parts still available on back-order, consider ordering extra units to hold in stock. This “buy-and-hold” approach ensures you have replacements when needed, especially for items that might soon become obsolete. Even for items listed as in stock now, there’s no guarantee they’ll be made after 2025. By contrast, installing spares now lets you defer any major system upgrade until it’s truly necessary.

In practical terms: work with your purchasing team to identify critical components and order them well ahead of need. For example, if your building uses ten SCMD2 DALI controllers or several SCMR1232 relay units, order a few extras. Track which items are obsolete (and cannot be bought fresh) – for those, rely on any used/recertified stock or cross-reference modern equivalents. For items still sold, Gemini can quote lead times and help you decide how much to order. Supporting the legacy system will keep your current lighting controls running reliably for as long as possible. In short, view this as preventative maintenance: sooner you stock up, smoother your operations will be down the line.

Gemini Lighting Solutions: Your iLight Support Partner

Gemini Lighting Solutions is a trusted source for iLight spares and advice. Our team has extensive experience with iLight and can help with both sourcing parts and system planning. We can supply iLight spares from dimmer packs and breakout modules to keypads and network interfaces while stocks last. In addition, GLS can advise on hybrid approaches – for instance, running new Dynalite devices on the same network cable as your old iLight nodes, or gradually migrating to Dynalite when refurbishment allows.
